Tasmanian Cherries

Tasmania’s cherry orchards are located statewide, with the major production being in the Huon and Derwent Valley regions. Tasmania’s climate and rich, well-drained soils provide a superb growing environment for late season cherries.

Tasmania is recognised internationally for its ability to supply high quality cherries from mid December to early March. The cooler Tasmanian climate is conducive to growing larger fruit, with the bulk of the crop measuring 28 – 30 millimetres and above. The length of the growing season supports the development of a sweet, firm, cherry that demonstrates an exceptional flavour.

The size and quality of Tasmania’s cherries, and the island state’s unique pest and disease-free status, place Cherry Isle in an unparalleled position to provide one of the world’s healthiest and most sought after fresh fruits.
